Thanks for dropping by my blog! I'm excited to hit the road.

I will most definitely be keeping an eye on yours - and possibly hitting one of these shops for lunch when I'm in Avignon!

Hi Linda,
Wow! Sounds like fun!

I'd recommend stopping in Troyes on your way. A great stop for its architectural heritage alone, lots of pedestrian streets,well-preserved half-timbered houses, and a city center shaped like a champagne cork!

Then on to Dijon, described in my article.

A very nice little village between Dijon and Beaune is Nuits-Saint-Georges, home to a few grand crus.

Beaune (be sure to visit the Hotel de Dieu)

Chalon sur Saone

Mâcon

Beaujeu (the center for great Beaujolais)

and then on to Lyon itself.

Have you thought about taking the train to Dijon and then picking up your rental car there? It might be a nice way to avoid the stress of driving in Paris.

For vineyard recommendations, check out thewinedoctor.com

Let me know how your trip goes and Bonne Route!

Dear Jessamyn

We are going by car from Paris to Lyon and back within 3 days. We would like to stop at some great wineries and villages along the way. What are your recommendations?

Thank you

French mentality... I am French myself and like many of my co-nationals, I think this strike-addiction is really a shame upon us! Specially when it turns out to be more than strikes but road and railway blockages that affect the whole population...

French media are very responsible for the ambient permissivity in France towards blockages. As many journalists in France are former "68 ards" or under the influence of the 1968 ideology:"it is forbidden to forbid"...

It seems also that it is forbidden to think a little bit these days...

Let's keep the faith, things will change and French will have to start working to face the globalised economy and pay the soaring bills...
